This course provides the skills and competencies required to manage traffic on public roads and
around or through construction sites by implementing traffic management plans that minimize the
risk to public and site workers. Work includes setting up, checking, removing and maintenance of
roadwork safety measures (sign schemes) to comply with the requirements of Traffic Management
Areas of Study
During the training program, participants will cover:
- Plan and prepare to implement traffic management plans
- Maintain worksite safety
- Setup signage scheme
- Monitor traffic flow
- Close down at end of shift
- Close down at end of Traffic management plan
Assessment
There are three forms of assessment required in order to gain competency is this unit:
- Successfully complete of session work book to assess general knowledge.
Successful completion of the above unit will provide the participant with a probationary licence. To complete the full qualification requirements, participants must;
- Undergo a site audit once the participant has completed 3 entries in the provided logbook, within 6 months of completing the training course.
- The audit will be conducted on a site that the candidate has implemented and they must provide documentation to prove this (ie TMP, JSA, SWMS and checklists).
Once the participant has successfully completed all three assessment requirements, an ID card will be issued in recognition of competence.
